About this stay
Blue Hills was built for the estate manager in the 1930s and still has its red-oxide floors, bay windows and rose garden. Three bedrooms open onto a long veranda that looks over the tea slopes.
Selvi, the cook, makes Nilgiri vegetable stews, Badaga-style chicken and a proper English breakfast, and bakes for tea. Walk through the estate to a viewpoint, take the toy train from Coonoor, or do nothing at all by the fire.
Ooty town is thirty minutes away. Nights are cold from November to February.
